Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this role is to support individuals in their recovery process through counseling, case management, and other services.
About the Role
This position serves as a Peer Recovery Specialist I, Certified, working within the MDH Local Health - Washington County department. The role involves providing peer support to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions
- Assist clients in developing and implementing recovery plans
- Mentor and support peers in their recovery journey
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences
- Conduct outreach activities to promote recovery resources
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Peer Recovery Specialist program
- Experience in substance abuse recovery
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist I
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
