About the Role
The Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for monitoring the safety, security, sobriety, and transportation of Victory Bay’s clients, who are in various levels of treatment for substance abuse.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and direct the daily schedule of clients, ensuring organization and punctuality for all treatment and activities.
- Transport clients to the treatment facility and back to residence using Victory Bay’s transport vehicle, complying with driving guidelines and GPS monitoring.
- Monitor client condition and behavior for signs of intoxication or drug use.
- Administer Urine Analysis and breathalyzer tests on scheduled days and communicate results to medical staff via email.
- Conduct shift change reports and promptly relieve the previous Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Conduct client searches at intake and assist in completing intake paperwork.
- Maintain and control company keys at all times.
- Direct clients into group sessions or appointments as needed.
- Build relationships with clients and model healthy communication as part of the Recovery program.
- Complete shift change reports weekly.
- Manage and defuse conflicts between clients impartially and respectfully.
- Remind clients of rules and enforce consequences when necessary.
- Maintain a professional demeanor reflective of healthy sobriety and appropriate boundaries.
- Adhere to scheduled client transports and arrive at the facility on time.
- Report to and communicate with the Direct Supervisor.
- Assist with facility maintenance.
- Run ancillary groups and input group notes into KIPU.
- Observe and assist with self-administration of medications.
- Assist and cover for other staff to maintain productivity and efficiency.
- Take on additional responsibilities as the company grows.

Equipment & Working Conditions

- Flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings to accommodate client needs.
- Participation in educational training, orientations, or compliance programs as needed.
- Occasional lifting of moderately heavy office supplies (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-4 years working in a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Facility.
- Skills:
- Enthusiastic self-starter with sustained energy and initiative.
- Comfort working with a diverse base of support (clients, employers, providers, community leaders, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (reading, writing, spelling).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to maintain a positive work ethic in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to function independently and with flexibility.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record software.
- Licenses & Certifications (Preferred):
- Current CPR Certification.
- Narcan training.
- Peer Recovery Specialist Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Certification (within first 90 days of employment).
