Peer Recovery Coach

Duties/Responsibilities

• Embrace, support and implement Community Healing Center's vision and values related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Provide appropriate services/supports to peers.
• Serve as a consumer advocate and provide peer support for consumers in a variety of settings.
• Aid in the recovery process by assisting clinical staff in the provision of jail services.
• Support culturally competent, recovery-based practices, person-centered planning, and a trauma-informed culture.
• Provide information, training, and advocacy for peers, families, providers, and staff.
• Participate in peer community and model a recovery-based lifestyle.
• Lend unique insight into substance abuse and/or mental illness and what makes recovery possible.
• Assist with the development of services for stakeholder groups receiving services.
• Create and facilitate a variety of group activities that support and strengthen recovery.
• Participate in necessary support/trainings specific to Peer Support services.
• Prepare/submit reports in accordance with state, agency, referral, and CARF program requirements.
• Assist in obtaining authorization for Recovery Coach Services.
• Maintain professional relationships with referral sources.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Completion of State training - Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR), required.
• Experiential knowledge of the recovery process and current stable recovery required.
• Knowledge of 12-step programs required.
• MCBAP (Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals) certification or ability to obtain MCBAP certification, preferred.
• Project Assert Certification or ability to obtain, preferred.
• Direct contact with alcohol and drug abusers including individuals that may use injectable drugs.
• Injectable drug abusers are at elevated risk for tuberculosis infection and other illnesses. All staff are required to be screened for tuberculosis and understand that exposure to tuberculosis is possible.
• Flu and Covid-19 Vaccines, required.
• Covid-19 booster, preferred.
