Peer Counselor - Parent Partner (FBH Certified Peer Counselor)

About the role

This position will be based in our Tukwila site serving South King County. Burien site serves many families who are Spanish-speaking only. You would be an integral part of this team of innovators who explore and develop new approaches and implement novel strategies for engaging families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate, provide support and help facilitate services for youth and their families receiving Family Behavioral Health Services.
• Work as a member of a team, helping a parent voice their own perspective and assure that other team members are able to understand their perspective and use that perspective in treatment planning.
• Help youth, parents and families achieve confidence in their abilities to team on a recovery journey and maintain hope for their success after formal behavioral health services have been completed.
• Emphasize achieving incredible outcomes with children, youth and families by actively partnering with them along with their natural and community services and supports to achieve long term safety and stability in our neighborhoods and communities.
• Require scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of youth and families served. Services will be provided in community-based settings and in family homes.
• Based out of our Tukwila/Burien site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Age 21 or older.
• Personal (lived) experience as a parent of a child who has been or is receiving community / mental health services within the past ten years.
• Ability to drive to our family homes within the community with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record per CCS policy.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to visually assess safety within family homes and in the community.
• Availability to flex some work hours.
• Preference for a flexible schedule rather than a traditional, fixed 8-5, Monday through Friday, facility-based position.
• Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
• Pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
• Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
