Principal Responsibilities
- Processes barkie poles through shaving machine, clean bark removal and smooth shaves poles
- Maintains shaver system equipment including daily service of parts, grease, inspect, and cleaning
- Changes and maintains cutter parts, properly sets and calibrates knives for optimum efficiency
- Secures operating systems by established start-up and shut-down procedures
- Documents and reports quality, mechanical and operations production to the supervisor
- Affords assistance in maintenance and repair of system equipment as required
- Affords assistance in receipt of inbound materials, tally and marks loads, and records information
- Affords assistance in inspection and reclassification of round stock as required
- Affords assistance in loading and unloading of products, sets dunnage, loads trucks, rail cars and bands loads
- Affords assistance in cutting, loading and shipment of salvage logs and firewood
- Communicates production quality concerns with appropriate individuals
- Participates and contributes to company safety program
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience: Scaling experience and peeler experience is helpful; experience with minor mechanical repairs, hydraulics, and electrical preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Mobile Equipment certification preferred
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Good eye/hand coordination, Good paperwork skills, Keeps an organized work area, Able to diagnose and trouble shoot potential issues, Knowledge of ANSI standards preferred, Knowledge of grading, defect, species
