Job Summary

The RN-Pediatrics provides direct and indirect nursing care for pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. This role includes comprehensive assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation in a family-centered care environment. The RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team and families to support optimal health outcomes for children while considering developmental, emotional, and cultural needs.

Essential Functions

• Performs assessments and develops individualized plans of care for pediatric patients
• Administers medications, treatments, and performs clinical procedures
• Maintains accurate documentation of care in accordance with organizational standards
• Maintains patient confidentiality and professional conduct at all times
• Communicates findings to the healthcare team
• Supports daily activities including nutrition, hygiene, ambulation, and elimination
• Provides age-appropriate education to patients and families
• Responds to and manages clinical emergencies effectively
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Adheres to infection control, safety protocols, and ethical standards of care

• Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and team meetings

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred
• Licenses/Certifications: Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), preferred
• Experience: Previous pediatric or neonatal nursing experience preferred; 12-lead ECG, preferred
