Responsibilities
- Maintains and evaluates the medical condition of patients in collaboration with the physician and other disciplines.
- Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
- Orders and administers appropriate medications within the limits of the appropriate statutory limitations or refers patient to a specialist.
- Initiates, performs or directs other healthcare professionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests.
- Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records.
- Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by the supervising medical staff.
- May be assigned to perform leadwork and/or involvement in clinical coordination, compliance with Joint Commission standards, health station management or responsibility for special projects which may encompass protocol.
- Develops, manages planning, scheduling and other administrative tasks as necessary to support practice environment.
- May provide clinic dispensary duties.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program
- Master's Degree Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant program
- 1-3 years 1 year related clinical experience
- CPNPPC-Certified Pediatric Nurse Primary Care - PNCB - Pediatric Nursing Certification Board Required
- NP-Nurse Practitioner - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required
- PAC-Certified Physician Assistant - NCCPA - National Commission for Certifying Agencies Required
- NP-Nurse Practitioner - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
- PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
- DEAREG-DEA Registration - DEA - Drug Enforcement Agency Required
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical principals, procedures and community resources.
- Skills in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.
- Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
- Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
- Skills in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
- Skills in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments.
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to prepare accurate reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
