Pay

The disclosed salary range is $150,000.00 - $450,000.00. The exact pay rate will be based on factors including the individual’s combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications, in alignment with Children’s National compensation philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care of patients in the Children's Pediatrician & Associates practices, including appropriate documentation and reporting.
  • Supervise assigned clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Participate in assigned administrative and quality improvement activities and regularly scheduled provider meetings.
  • Perform patient care, including examinations, tests, reports, procedures, and other functions consistent with normally accepted standards of care.
  • Perform complete physical examinations of each patient, including assessments of all major body systems.
  • Analyze reports and findings to assess medical conditions, diagnose injuries or illnesses, and formulate prognoses.
  • Perform or supervise invasive medical procedures such as injections, inoculations, and vaccinations.
  • Prescribe medication, treatment, and recommend preventive care routines.
  • Ensure 24/7, 365-day coverage of patient care needs for assigned locations.
  • Actively participate in family-centered care and communicate professionally and compassionately.
  • Refer patients to specialists and coordinate care with consultants and ancillary services.
  • Appropriately document findings, procedures, and medical histories in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary reports, claims, and correspondence.
  • Report births, deaths, contagious disease outbreaks, and other required information to appropriate authorities.
  • Directly supervise nurses and other personnel, including hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints.
  • Participate in governance, management, credentialing, and peer review activities, attending at least 50% of relevant meetings.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of the Company and any contracted managed care organizations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Company commensurate with professional services.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree (Required).
  • Completion of residency in pediatrics.
  • Board eligible or board certification in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Association.
  • Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children’s National Medical Center.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for delivering medical care.
  • Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing care plans.
  • Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss them with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and students.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development and staying current in primary care pediatrics.
