Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist

This is a full or part-time position (50%-100%) requiring onsite work at a designated campus location. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check and every four years thereafter under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.

About the Role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist to join our growing team. We seek candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. Applicants will be considered for titles including Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor, with the final title determined by experience and qualifications.

The Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department with over 230 faculty members across 16 subspecialty divisions. It promotes children’s health through outstanding clinical care, education, cutting-edge research, and advocacy. Since 2015, the department has ranked among the Top 20 pediatrics departments receiving NIH funding. The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Division provides evaluation and treatment for gastrointestinal and liver disorders and participates in clinical and translational research.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical service to pediatric liver transplant and pediatric liver/GI patients in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
• Deliver pre-op and post-op care to pediatric liver transplant patients.
• Engage in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
• Participate in administrative and committee work to advance the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (for CHS track).
• Work collaboratively with other faculty members.
• Conduct independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest (CHS Track only).

Requirements

• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology (Certificate of Added Qualification) from the American Board of Pediatrics by the appointment start date.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology by the appointment start date.
• Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program by the start date.
• WI Medical license by the start date of the position.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics by the start date.
• Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT track, candidates must meet criteria outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion.

Qualifications

MD, DO, or equivalent is required.
