Pediatric Staff Pharmacist - Inpatient - Rotating

About the role

The Pharmacist ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, screening, and verifying all drug-related orders for proper dosage, route, dosage form, and administration schedule.
• Expediting the preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel.
• Resolving drug therapy problems, clarifying and correcting problematic drug orders.
• Designating pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments.
• Counseling patients regarding the safe and proper use of their medications.
• Resolving equipment and operational problems.

Requirements

Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Hire: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Continued Employment: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting. Previous experience with state of the art drug distribution and clinical service methods and drug information sources and retrieval and communication methods.

Education/training

Education/training: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program.

• Making decisions independently to monitor, screen, and verify drug-related orders.
• Solving drug therapy problems and resolving equipment and operational issues.
