Pediatric Registered Nurse Safe and Healthy Families

About the role

The position is for a pediatric Forensic Nurse with the Center for Safe and Healthy Families at Primary Children’s Hospital, Salt Lake Campus, Salt Lake City, Utah. This position requires response to after-hours cases at both Primary Children's Salt Lake and Primary Children's Lehi Campuses.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 coverage through scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Triage calls and respond urgently to the ED for forensic nursing evaluations
• Conduct independent after-hours assessments for patients presenting with concerns of sexual abuse or assault
• Collaborate closely with SHF physicians and the ED team
• Photograph injuries, collect evidence, and perform genital exams using colposcopy
• Complete mandatory reporting to Law Enforcement and Child Protective Services
• Support patients and families with sensitivity, professionalism, and trauma-informed care

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of hire
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
• RNs with under 12 months of experience must obtain their BSN within 4 years of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $35.22 - $53.29. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Schedule

Part-time, 30 hours/week. Varying shifts, including required nights, weekends, and holidays.
