Requirements
- Perform complete physical exams and obtain complete medical history.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Interpret and integrate data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Prescribe medications in compliance with state law.
- Provide support and information regarding patient’s condition, progress, and plan of care to parents/family, referring and consulting physicians.
- Instruct patients regarding medications and treatments, educate on health and illness prevention, and recommend community resources.
- Provide continuity of patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals as appropriate.
- Initiate or complete administrative tasks and acquire necessary information, instructions, and materials as required.
- Participate in activities contributing to education and research.
Qualifications
- Successfully completed an approved physician assistant program.
- Current licensure to practice in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Experience as a Pediatric Physician Assistant for at least 2 years.
- Ability to obtain prescriptive authority in the State of Pennsylvania within 90 days of hire.
- Analytical ability to evaluate patient care and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with medical staff, family members, and all levels of personnel at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh.
- Emotional and mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under daily pressures, including stressful and/or emergency situations.
- Physical ability to access patients, sit for long periods, push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and interact and communicate professionally with others.
- Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment, computers, telephones, and other equipment found in The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh environment.
