About the Role

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time pediatric orthopedic surgeon to join its nationally recognized Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopedic Surgery. The successful candidate will build a general pediatric orthopedic surgery practice with a special interest in trauma, deformity, neuromuscular conditions, or a related subspecialty. This position offers significant opportunity for clinical practice growth, participation in resident and fellow education, and clinical or translational research. The position includes an academic appointment at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a general pediatric orthopedic surgery practice
  • Develop a clinical focus in trauma, deformity, neuromuscular conditions, or another pediatric orthopedic subspecialty
  • Support the Pediatric Orthopedic Trauma Service at a Level I trauma center
  • Provide clinical care at Shriners Hospital for Children, working with other pediatric orthopedic specialists to treat patients with general orthopedic needs
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose, and treat conditions ranging from common injuries to complex musculoskeletal disorders and deformities
  • Participate fully in the clinical and academic activities of the pediatric orthopedic division
  • Support the continued growth of pediatric orthopedic services
  • Actively participate in orthopedic resident and fellow education, including:
    • Clinical instruction and supervision
    • Teaching in the operating room and outpatient setting
    • Participation in conferences, journal clubs, and other educational activities
    • Mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students
  • Participate in clinical and translational research based on interests and academic goals

The Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopedic Surgery has a national and international reputation for excellence. Washington University School of Medicine and St. Louis Children’s Hospital are recognized regionally and nationally for providing advanced pediatric care. The department supports collaboration with researchers across Washington University School of Medicine.
