About the role

As a Pediatric Oncology Nurse in our Radiation Oncology Clinic, you'll be part of a fast-paced, tight-knit team serving on the frontlines of patient care. You'll manage interdisciplinary patient care activities and work closely with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the nursing process including assessment of patient needs, design of a collaborative plan of care, implementation of the plan with appropriate delegation of tasks, coordination of team effort, and evaluation of patient progress.
  • Act as a patient/family advocate, communicating and coordinating patient care activities throughout the continuum of care in collaboration with other members of the Health Care Team.
  • Provide care in a variety of settings, including acute care, outpatient clinics, and research environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's of Nursing required. BSN required within 3 years.
  • Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law: TN State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state. ARK or MISS State Board of Nursing license if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
  • Familiarity with research protocols, preferred.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
  • Proven performance in earlier roles.

Skills

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: Radiation Oncology Clinic.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 10 hours shifts with rotating off day. Holiday requirement and minimal weekend.
