About the role
The Imaging Pediatric Nurse position at Children’s Wisconsin supports CT scans and additional responsibilities in the Resource/Epic Imaging Nurse role. The schedule is 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with no call or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes a developmental approach to meet the unique needs of neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, and young adult patients.
- Provides nursing care and consultations to pediatric patients across the hospital, focusing on the imaging department.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care before, during, and after exams and procedures.
- Administers procedural sedation, monitors patients closely, and initiates rescue medication according to sedation policy guidelines.
- Coordinates patient care, educates parents/guardians about sedation, and provides discharge education post-sedation and post-procedure.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an ADN or BSN (BSN preferred).
- 1+ years nursing experience in critical care/emergency room and/or pediatric sedation, or 3+ years of general pediatric nursing experience.
- Knowledge of neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent growth and development, and child/family responses to illness, injury, and hospitalization.
- Ability to analyze complex patient conditions and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
- Mental and sensory abilities to read, process, and interpret clinical data.
- Flexibility to work flexible hours and be on-call for Interventional Radiology or MRI.
Qualifications
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council.
- Licensed RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin (or equivalent license).
- PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council.
