Pediatric Nephrologist
About the role
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine seeks a Pediatric Nephrologist with specific interest in pediatric kidney transplantation. The successful candidate will either assume the role of Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation immediately or be mentored into this role over 1-3 years by Dr. David K. Hooper, MD.
Responsibilities
- Care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of kidney disorders, including those on dialysis and with kidney transplants in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform procedures including hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, peritoneal dialysis, therapeutic plasma exchange, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and kidney biopsy with sedation.
- Lead and develop the Kidney Transplantation program as Medical Director.
- Engage in teaching and research activities as appropriate to the rank and track.
Requirements
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Nephrology.
- Excellent procedural and clinical skills.
Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric nephrology preferred.
- Interest in and ability to lead a transplant program.

- Strong clinical skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
