Pediatric Dentist

Location: Liberty (Salem) and Lents (Southeast Portland) Practices – rotating schedule: A weeks 4 days at Liberty (40 hours), B weeks 3 days at Lents (30 hours).

About the role

The Pediatric Dentist supports Willamette Dental’s evidence-based treatment philosophy, mission, vision, and core values by diagnosing and treating diseases of the gums, teeth, and jaw in infants, children, and teenagers. The role includes providing varying levels of anesthesia—local, nitrous oxide, and general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform anterior and premolar root canals.
• Extract erupted teeth, either routinely or surgically.
• Utilize evidence-based dentistry to recognize, prevent, intercept, and correctly identify appropriate treatment.
• Fulfill all requirements for proper electronic documentation of care using AxiUm electronic records.
• Apply CAMBRA and PEMBRA principles with an emphasis on prevention, risk phases, and risk assessment.
• Assess patient needs, meet quality standards, and evaluate patient satisfaction to ensure an optimal patient experience.
• Operate a computer and software applications quickly and accurately.
• Communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing so others will understand.

Requirements

• Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), and/or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.
• Certificate or MSD in Pediatric Dentistry; Board certified or eligible.
• Successful completion of a post-doctoral residency program in Pediatric Dentistry.
• Valid licensure in the state(s) of practice.
• DEA registration.
• Maintenance of BLS certification.
• Actively seeking or has achieved board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
• State board’s equivalent of a sedation permit or higher; maintenance of certifications to support anesthesia permit.

Skills & Knowledge

• Evidence-based dental practices.
• Diagnostic terms and techniques for oral cavity anomalies.
• Principles of customer and patient experience, including needs assessment and satisfaction evaluation.
• Verbal and written communication.
• Physical and visual ability to perform surgical tasks and dental procedures.

Pay

Expected hiring range: $262,500 – $350,000 USD annually, depending on experience and production. The actual base pay offered will be based on education, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the Company’s plan.

Physical Requirements

The work is primarily performed while sitting and/or standing, with occasional walking, bending, stooping, and carrying light items such as papers or supplies. The incumbent uses a computer and standard office equipment to complete tasks.
