Pediatric Clinical Nursing Instructor (Part-Time)

About the role

As a Part-Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire motivated nursing students to achieve their educational and career goals. This role offers a flexible schedule, strong mentorship, and opportunities for career growth. You will create impactful learning experiences, support student success, and contribute to transforming healthcare through education.

Scheduling is determined based on course needs and clinical specialty for each 8-week session. Clinical instructors are typically scheduled for 2-3 consecutive 12-hour shifts over 1-2 weeks per session. Pediatric Nursing clinicals focus on family-centered care of children, covering normal childcare and health alterations from infancy through adolescence.

Responsibilities

• Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
• Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
• Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care.
• Make yourself available to staff at clinical agencies.
• Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students based on course objectives.
• Provide remediation to students as required or needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments tailored to students’ knowledge, skills, and learning needs.
• Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, and other assignments in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
• Teach didactic course content under the supervision of a course coordinator.
• Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues.
• Collaborate with administration, staff, and faculty to improve College operations and student satisfaction.
• Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and policy implementation.
• Serve as a professional role model in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
• Utilize relationship skills for group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
• Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
• Report to the dean or assistant dean; a course coordinator will provide direct oversight.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (Required).
• 2+ years of experience within the last five years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse (Required).
• Professional Nurse licensure in the state of practice (Required).
• Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.

Pay

The expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
