Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital — one of the region’s leading pediatric hospitals — is trusted by South Florida families in the moments that count. As a full-service hospital, we treat minor illnesses, trauma-related accidents and some of the most complex medical conditions.

Established in 1992, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital combines advanced technology and the expertise of the largest, most diverse group of board-certified pediatric specialists in the region. To meet the growing needs of the community, the hospital expanded in 2011 and again in 2022. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital now has 216 beds.

The hospital is staffed 24 hours a day by world-class pediatricians, pediatric specialists, specialty-trained nurses and ancillary support staff. Today, more than 650 physicians are on the medical staff.

Uniquely inspired by and designed for kids and families, the freestanding building offers many amenities. The vibrant colors, whimsical décor and larger-than-life murals welcome children to an upbeat environment where the "Power of Play" is a healing force. Each floor reflects an individual theme of sports, arts, games or dreams. All patient rooms are private and are wired for movies, video games, the Internet and educational programs, and room-service meals are available any time of the day.

The eight-story, nearly 400,000-square-foot, environmentally friendly facility features state-of-the-art patient rooms, cardiac hybrid operating rooms, surgical and interventional radiology suites, intensive care and cardiac intensive care units, intraoperative MRI, family resource and respite spaces, ambulatory services, imaging services that feature a CT scanner disguised as a pirate ship, and inpatient and outpatient pediatric oncology treatment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the evaluation and longitudinal follow-up of patients in various subspecialty cardiology clinics
• Contribute to program development efforts aimed at expanding access and care for children across the region
• Collaborate with a team of cardiac specialists within the division as well as other in-house and community-based providers
• Provide consultation, diagnostics, and longitudinal management of children with congenital and acquired heart disease
• Work alongside other cardiology subspecialties (including EP, interventional, advanced heart failure/transplant, adult congenital, and advanced imaging)
• Develop collaborative relationships with referring community providers and general pediatricians

Requirements

• BE/BC in pediatric cardiology
• Ability to collaborate with a team of cardiac specialists within the division as well as other in-house and community-based providers
• Experience with outpatient care including consultation, diagnostics, and longitudinal management of children with congenital and acquired heart disease
• Opportunity to work alongside other cardiology subspecialties (including EP, interventional, advanced heart failure/transplant, adult congenital, and advanced imaging)
• Opportunity to develop collaborative relationships with referring community providers and general pediatricians

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD/DO)
• Board certification in pediatric cardiology
• Current license to practice medicine in the state of Florida
• Experience with outpatient care including consultation, diagnostics, and longitudinal management of children with congenital and acquired heart disease
• Experience working with a team of cardiac specialists within the division as well as other in-house and community-based providers
• Experience developing collaborative relationships with referring community providers and general pediatricians
