The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II reports to the Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager. Under indirect supervision, this role provides high-quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The position requires independent and efficient performance of clinical Pediatric Echo operations in procedural settings, including entering full preliminary reports. Coverage includes the Murrells Inlet clinic with potential assignments at SJCH hospital and SMP clinics. Responsibilities include organizing and prioritizing patient exams and contributing to unit teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality pediatric echocardiograms, including M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler, and color Doppler.
- Enter full preliminary reports for interpretation by a Pediatric Cardiologist.
- Organize and prioritize patient exams efficiently.
- Contribute to unit teamwork in a procedural setting, including Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab (preferred).
- Apply strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease, pre- and post-operatively.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Cardiovascular/Ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, PE) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification preferred.
- Minimum of two years of pediatric echocardiography work experience.
- Fetal Echo and research experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Arts/Science or a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Pay
Hourly pay grade: Health-29.
Schedule
Scheduled weekly hours: 8.
