Pediatric Behavioral Health Specialist Day Treatment

About the role

The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) plays a crucial role in providing therapeutic support to patients, focusing on addressing psychological vulnerabilities and maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Delivers specific groups to address psychological vulnerabilities and provide therapeutic support.
• Provides individual and ad-hoc supportive contact to validate negative feelings, offer coping strategies, build self-esteem, and assess immediate risk.
• Maintains unit safety by performing visual safety rounds, conducting room checks, and managing patient belongings.
• Leads or co-leads educational and didactic groups, ensuring a positive and safe milieu.
• Collaborates with the treatment team to manage patient care needs, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), and provide self-directed resources.
• Takes initiative to improve the work environment and guide others towards problem-solving and treatment questions.
• Mentors and/or orientates new caregivers and students.
• Aligns with the Intermountain Operating Model and continuous improvement practices, including idea escalation, unit project coordination, and change management.
• Maintains high standards of professionalism by modeling appropriate behaviors and coaching peers and patients in real-time.
• Completes timely and accurate documentation of groups, patient care interventions, and observations.
• May provide direct observation of acutely unsafe patients in collaboration with the treatment team and charge nurse.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Relevant work experience in a behavioral health or similar setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or family studies (preferred).
• Minimum of 6 months relevant work experience in a behavioral health or similar setting.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $19.50 - $26.48.
