Peak-to-Peak Accelerated 3-Year Pathway Director

About the role

The Office of Medical Education (OME) within the University of Colorado School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking multiple Pathway Directors for the Peak-to-Peak Accelerated Three-Year Pathway (A3YP). Four Pathway Director positions are available, each aligned with a specific clinical specialty and training site. Available pathways include Fort Collins Family Medicine, Psychiatry, and St. Joseph's Family Medicine. Each Pathway Director will provide leadership for students participating in the A3YP within their designated pathway and residency program.

Responsibilities

• Direct the secondary admissions committee to select A3YP students for the assigned pathway program.
• Work closely with the A3YP Program Director and Program Manager to develop and oversee all aspects of student academic engagement and progress through 6 years of programmatic progression.
• Collaborate closely with all UME leaders involved with A3YP students in curriculum development and implementation to ensure integration and supplementation of curriculum serves goals of program.
• Meet regularly with students to review progress and feedback, develop individualized learning goals, support career goals, and provide individualized mentorship and advising.
• Participate in Progress Committee providing detailed feedback bidirectionally to committee and students and participating in deceleration process if indicated.
• Collaborate with the Office of Student Life and GME teams in supporting students with directed pathways to matching.
• Support students and GME program leaders in facilitating transition to residency with development of individualized learning plans and collaborative handoffs.
• Collaborate with GME leaders to support residents with ongoing regular meetings for review of progress, individualized mentorship and advising.
• Develop relationships with clinical affiliates and communities to support workforce placement and loan repayment initiatives.
• Improve the A3YP as informed by course evaluation.
• Collaborate with A3YP leadership team to support programmatic evaluation and outcomes demonstration.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
  • Instructor: Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty Instructor appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited University. Applicants must have permission from their clinic or department to assume role.
  • Sr. Instructor: Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty Senior Instructor appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited University. Applicants must have permission from their clinic or department to assume role.
  • Assistant Professor: Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty Assistant Professor appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited University. Applicants must have permission from their clinic or department to assume role.
  • Associate Professor: Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty Associate Professor appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited University. Applicants must have permission from their clinic or department to assume role.
  • Professor: Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty Professor appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited University. Applicants must have permission from their clinic or department to assume role.
• Preferred Qualifications: Program management and coordination skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, and leadership team members. Experience in medical education and curriculum development. Experience working effectively with blended teams. Demonstrate an interest in medical student education. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication. Interprofessional leadership and teamwork skills. Ability to work with a diverse group. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Flexibility and the ability to adapt various skills. Comfort communicating with students, faculty, and community stakeholders. Excellent program management, time management and organizational skills. Attention to details.
