PE Field Support Worker
About the role
The Gainesville City School System is seeking a PE Field Support Worker to work under the general supervision of the Director of Maintenance. This is a 235-day position with a non-exempt FLSA status.
Responsibilities
- Completes plumbing work as assigned, including repairing toilets, sinks, water lines, and sewer lines
- Completes electrical work as assigned, including operating maintenance machinery in a safe manner
- Maintains athletic fields and stadium grounds, including mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing debris/leaves
- Performs general landscaping duties and maintains all equipment and tools in good working order
- Safely loads, unloads, and secures all equipment, tools, and other items to be transported
- Works on irrigation systems and fertilization of fields, and paints football, baseball, and soccer fields
- Uses various equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, skid steer, and tractor
- Maintains a clean and organized work vehicle
- Procures and returns materials, equipment, and tools from/to stock
- Immediately reports safety hazards and maintains a safe work site
- Completes carpentry work as assigned, including cabinetry, bookshelves, and minor renovations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Experience performing general maintenance duties desirable
- A valid Georgia Driver's License

Physical Demands
Medium Work: Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and/or moving 10-25 pounds frequently. Heavy Work: Occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds, and/or frequently moving 25-50 pounds, and/or constantly moving 10-20 pounds.
Skills
The ability to follow written and oral instructions, climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, heat, wet, and high humidity.
