Pay range: $38.03 - $48.62 per hour (New Jersey). The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
About the role
The Paramedic will provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to patients. Opportunities for full-time retention agreements are available, with bonuses paid at 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. Free continuing education units (CEUs) and courses for recertification are provided. Part-time employees working 24 hours per week are eligible for full benefits. World-class work experience is offered to all employees.
Schedule
- Per Diem: Must provide 10 shifts of availability and work 6 shifts over 3 months. Must work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday, plus 2 weekend shifts. Shifts must be within the region the applicant is hired. Per diem employees may choose day or night shifts and their preferred station/unit within their home region.
- Part Time: Assigned two regularly scheduled shifts per week (4 shifts over 2 weeks), with at least 2 of the 4 shifts required to be on a weekend, in the region hired. Must work 24 hours per week.
- Full Time: Assigned 3 shifts per week, with weekend requirements, in the region hired. Follows a rotating Pitman schedule. Must work 36 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Conducts self in a professional, dignified, and compassionate manner at all times.
- Communicates clearly, effectively, and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Notifies supervisor of any deficiencies regarding maintenance, equipment, or supplies, and of any unusual circumstances immediately.
- Provides treatment in accordance with established patient care protocols.
- Operates department vehicles in compliance with all applicable NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and Mobile Health (MH) driving policies.
- Completes department-specific continuing education programs in addition to state-required programs.
- Completes all patient care documentation per MH Documentation Procedure.
- Interacts professionally with partners, patients, management, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, healthcare providers, and the public.
- Performs routine duties to ensure safety and facilitate patient care, including but not limited to:
- Completing vehicle inspection forms and maintenance requests.
- Submitting copies of required certifications before their due dates.
- Remaining compliant with hospital Employee Health requirements (e.g., TB testing, N95 fit testing).
- Completing hospital-required processes such as annual self-evaluations and employee engagement surveys.
- Performs other duties as required or requested by MH management to support organizational functions.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Current driver’s license and must satisfy current vehicle insurance company requirements.
- NJ Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification (eligible for reciprocity).
- American Heart Association (AHA) certifications:
- BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Hazmat Awareness Certification.
- Must possess ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800 certifications.
- Must have completed Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHTLS/ITLS certification.
- Associate degree.
