Job Overview

The Paramedic Educator facilitates various responsibilities within the Paramedic Program, including but not limited to delivering classroom lectures, participating in classroom activities, clinical activities, equipment maintenance, and maintaining compliance with student records and skill sessions throughout the RWJBarnabas Health System and program.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • 1 Year ALS clinical experience
  • American Heart Association BLS Instructor
  • American Heart Association ACLS Instructor
  • American Heart Association PALS Instructor
  • Active NJ Paramedic
  • Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years of Instructor and customer service experience (Preferred)
  • NAEMT Instructor (Preferred)
  • NAEMSE Instructor (Level one Certifications and Licenses Required)
  • American Heart Association BLS Instructor
  • American Heart Association ACLS Instructor
  • American Heart Association PALS Instructor
  • Active NJ Paramedic

Essential Functions

  • Delivers lectures and materials to students in both a classroom and online setting.
  • Ensures all program content delivery complies with standards and guidelines set forth in NJ state regulations for training as defined in NJAC 8:41A, the National Standard Curriculum, and the RWJ Barnabas Health program curriculum.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making skills, solves problems, assists in developing departmental processes, attends departmental meetings and represents department as needed for all internal/external interactions.
  • Participate in the review and revision of departmental and educational policy.
  • Participates in standing and ad hoc committees formed by RWJBH and NJOEMS as the need arises.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Ability to demonstrate effective lifting, moving, carrying of equipment up to 100lbs
  • Positive interpersonal communication skills; written and verbal required
  • Interact with all stakeholders (employees, patients, vendors etc.) with empathy and respect
  • Comfortable working in an environment of constant change and doing so with a positive attitude
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and open to new ideas
  • Good judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to develop effective teams
  • Computer-literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Thorough knowledge of NJAC Statute 8:40 (Manual of Standards for Licensure of Mobility Assistance Vehicles & Ambulance Services) and 8:41 (Mobile Intensive Care Program Regulations) as they relate to this position
  • Thorough knowledge of NJAC Statute 8:40A and 8:41A as they relate to this position
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Paramedics and the EMS Education Agenda for the Future
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories, objectives, principles and techniques of basic and advanced pre-hospital emergency care
