Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Affords assistance to the operating room staff including the anesthesia providers with certain technical aspects of patient care.
• Maintains and controls the operating room environment.
• Cleans and disinfects the surgical suite and/or reusable equipment and supplies.
• Disposes soiled linen and solid wastes.
• Cleans anesthetizing location.
• Transports patients, equipment, instruments, specimens and supplies.
• Lifts and positions patients according to practice standards.
• Demonstrates an awareness of patient and personal safety.
• Affords assistance with personal care and activities of daily living to patients.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Documents necessary records.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtains and records vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
