About the role
Join our close-knit Float Pool team at Piedmont Walton, where you'll care for a wide range of adult patients in our inpatient units. Our inpatient division consists of Medical Surgical and ICU with the opportunity to assist the emergency department. Our nurses are at the forefront of advanced care, managing complex needs. Intensive Care has a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio and Medical Surgical has a 6:1 ratio. Our team emphasizes clinical excellence through critical thinking, prioritization, and teamwork. We take pride in hourly rounding, bedside shift reporting, and a culture rooted in professionalism and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous ECG monitoring through assessment of EKG strips and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, including measurement of P-R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations.
- Troubleshoot monitoring problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem.
- Maintain inventories, supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters in working condition; report malfunctions promptly.
- Under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provide care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- No prior work experience required; 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire required.
- Successful completion of PHC telemetry monitoring competency assessment within 30 days required.
Qualifications
- Certification from a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Cardiac Monitor Telemetry Technician (CCMTT) through the American Education Certification Association preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International preferred.
