About the role

A non‑licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Health Systems is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients on North Wing Eight, a general, plastic, urology, ENT, and vascular surgery floor.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care appropriate to the age and condition of patients.
• Recognize and identify signs and symptoms that require further evaluation by a licensed nurse.
• Communicate effectively with patients, customers, and team members.
• Adapt flexibly to changes in the work environment.

Education

• Required: High school diploma or GED or occupational diploma paired with successful completion of the project search program, or meet one of the listed preferences.
• Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Tennessee, First Responder, EMT, nursing student (completed Fundamentals of Nursing), medical assistant, pre‑med student, military corpsman, Combat Life Saver, Combat Medic, or surgical technician.
• Individuals employed as a Patient Care Technician prior to 3‑1‑2004 who lack the above educational requirements are grandfathered in.

Experience

• Preferred: Hospital experience (not required).

Licensure & Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification completed prior to unit assignment and maintained thereafter.
• Preferred: CNA certification, EMT certification, First Responder certification.
