About the role

As a student of the Application Engineering function, you will be an active contributor to the Energy Storage initiatives for Datacenters and Utility-Scale Storage. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to help shape how energy storage technologies are applied across two of the fastest-growing segments in the energy industry — supporting grid stability, enabling renewable integration, and powering the next generation of data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of system configurations for Energy Storage System applications in datacenter and utility-scale projects
  • Assist in calculating and analyzing energy storage performance scenarios to evaluate sizing constraints
  • Research emerging energy storage technologies, market trends, and industry standards to support application engineering decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, product management, and engineering to contribute to customer-facing technical content
  • Participate in technical discussions and help document site requirements and use-case needs
  • Help prepare technical presentations, application guides, and internal reports for stakeholders

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, power electronics, or energy conversion principles demonstrated through coursework or prior experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Available to commit to a full-time internship schedule for the designated program term
  • Eligible to work in the United States for this internship without requiring any sponsorship by GEV

Qualifications

  • Passion for clean energy and decarbonization, with a curiosity about how large-scale energy storage enables the transition to a low-carbon grid
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear insights
  • Experience with energy storage, power systems, or datacenter infrastructure through coursework, research, or a prior internship
  • Confident communicator comfortable presenting technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, Homer Pro, Python or energy storage modeling platforms
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Pay

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $21 and $34/hr.
