Overview
We are seeking a full-time PCB Integration Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.
Essential Functions
- PCB Bring Up and Integration
- Lead initiatives relating to PCBs, FPCs, and miniaturization
- Ensure PCB technologies are properly integrated, validated, optimized, and manufacturable
- Supplier Technical Interface (FAE- like function)
- Act as primary technical interface between company engineering teams and component vendors
- Review specifications, schematics, and interface requirements
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve integration issues and optimize performance
- Influence supplier designs to meet product requirements
- System Design Collaboration
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and product design teams to ensure robust integration
- Define component requirements including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and performance characteristics
- Support schematic and layout reviews
- Validation and Production Support
- Support Design, factory prototype, pilot run, and production ramp phases
- Aid manufacturing teams in resolving component-related production issues
- Drive yield improvements and long-term reliability
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or another related degree AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated expertise in the architecture, integration, validation and troubleshooting of at least one hardware component technology domain
- Demonstrated knowledge of hardware interfaces, electrical requirements, communication protocols, control signals, and integration constraints
- Experience characterizing component performance across operating conditions to ensure technical and business requirements are met
- Knowledge of power, thermal, and signal integrity considerations and their impact on component and system performance
- Proven ability to work across electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and program teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and influence skills
Desired Qualifications
- Strong understanding of reliability concepts, failure modes, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies
