Payroll Technician
About the Position
School District 49 is actively seeking a Payroll Technician for the Payroll department at the Education Service Center. The position is full-time and reports to the Payroll Manager. The hourly rate of pay is $22.49 to $28.93 per hour, depending upon previous relevant experience. The actual starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience provided on the job application.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll transactions accurately and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to payroll operations
- Handle employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues
- Support the payroll manager with administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in payroll processing or related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in payroll processing or a related field
- Knowledge of payroll systems and software
- Experience with HRIS systems is a plus
