Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compiles payroll data and billing records, assisting customers and worksite employees (WSE).
  • Accurately prepares and executes pay orders through the electronic system and issues paychecks in accordance with PEO guidelines.
  • Compiles payroll data for assigned client base, including gross pay, per diem, reimbursements, advances, taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Records changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and other changes.
  • Accurately enters and maintains all client-related information in the payroll system, including demographic changes, benefit plan deductions, and custom reports.
  • Reviews new hire and employee change paperwork and collaborates with clients to produce accurate, compliant, and timely payroll.
  • Trains and assists clients and their representatives on related websites and educates them on federal and state tax regulations and labor laws.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and field client service teams to resolve client issues and document them.
  • Maintains knowledge of payroll processing system enhancements and changes in wage and tax laws to assist with problem resolution.
  • Maintains knowledge of PEO service offerings to assist clients with inquiries.
  • Maintains knowledge of PEO payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures high-quality payroll service to PEO clients and WSEs by maintaining the highest level of service.
  • Maintains positive relationships with assigned clients and WSEs.
  • Proactively brings suggestions, concerns, and observations to the manager's attention.

Job Costing

  • Tracks the cost of individual projects and jobs, including direct and indirect costs (e.g., labor, materials, and overhead).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or accounting preferred.
  • 1+ years of multi-state payroll experience required.
  • 6+ months of PEO experience highly preferred.
  • Prism experience preferred.
  • FPC Certification preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The role requires regular communication and may involve occasional travel for business continuity purposes.
  • The role primarily functions indoors but may involve working in varying temperatures or outdoor environments as needed.
