Payroll Specialist - Remote Eastern/Central

We are seeking a qualified Payroll Specialist to join our remote team, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for our PEO clients.
Responsibilities
- Compile payroll data and billing records while assisting clients and worksite employees (WSE).
- Accurately prepare and execute pay orders through electronic systems and issue paychecks in accordance with PEO guidelines.
- Process payroll data for assigned clients, including gross pay, per diem, reimbursements, advances, taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
- Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, direct deposit, terminations, and other PEO-required forms.
- Maintain client-related information in the payroll system, including demographic changes, benefit plan deductions, and custom reports.
- Review new hire and employee change paperwork, collaborating with clients to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- Train and assist clients on payroll-related websites and educate them on federal/state tax regulations and labor laws.
- Collaborate with internal payroll departments and field client service teams to resolve client issues efficiently.
- Stay updated on payroll system enhancements, wage and tax laws, and PEO service offerings to assist clients and internal teams.
- Maintain knowledge of PEO payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Provide high-quality payroll service to clients and worksite employees, contributing to client retention.
- Maintain positive relationships with assigned clients and worksite employees.
- Proactively communicate suggestions, concerns, and observations to management.
- Track job costs, including direct and indirect costs (e.g., labor, materials, overhead) as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the position’s general function.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associate or BA degree in finance, business, or accounting preferred.
- 1+ years of multi-state payroll experience required.
- 6+ months of PEO experience highly preferred.
- Prism experience highly preferred.
- 10-key experience preferred.
- FPC Certification preferred.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and work independently.
- Ability to travel to the office for business continuity purposes if needed.
- Must reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone (highly preferred).

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST or CST, Monday through Friday.
