Responsibilities

  • Fast and accurate timecard data entry, including ability to accurately proof pre‑entered payroll data and follow‑up in a well‑documented manner with field personnel on any issues or inconsistencies.
  • Compare and contrast approved craft/classifications for each prevailing wage project against pre‑entered payroll entries.

  • Enter employee payroll changes weekly; pay rates, taxes, benefit deductions, and/or direct deposit information.
  • Ability to thoroughly proof/double‑check co‑workers’ payroll entries ensuring 100% accuracy.
  • By the end of each week, organize and maintain all payroll files and/or timecards digitally for the pay period, including scanning any employee forms processed during the week and attaching them to the employees’ virtual personnel files, ensuring timely and accurate recordkeeping.
  • As the primary contact for the payroll department, consistently provide excellent customer service, either in‑person, via email or over the telephone, to employees and/or supervisors with questions or concerns about paychecks.
  • Perform whatever research necessary to affect a resolution and work directly with the Director or Coordinator for any retroactive pay adjustments or late‑time entry.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with outside agencies requesting employment verifications or payroll data related to unemployment audits or employee forms.
  • Provide coverage or act as backup for other payroll personnel as needed.
  • Provide lunch‑coverage for the front desk receptionist one day a week.

  • Some college coursework to include the subjects of human resources and/or accounting would be helpful.

  • This is not a remote work position; it is fully onsite at Corporate Offices in Tempe, AZ. Local candidates only.
  • 3+ years of experience directly related to payroll coordinator‑level responsibilities required in a high‑volume, multi‑state payroll department.
  • Physical demands: reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
