Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities
- Process weekly and monthly payroll, manual checks, and payroll corrections
- Prepares and submits Certified Payroll Reports for Prevailing Wage, Davis Bacon, and Service Contracts
- Maintains employee set up of various components in payroll, benefits, and time keeping information systems including employee earnings, job titles, deductions, garnishments, etc.
- Administers payroll reconciliation, year-end budget, and financial reporting, and assists payroll company with year-end W-2s.
- Administers non-union and union weekly 401k reporting and monthly confidential payroll 401k reporting
- Administers monthly union reporting for multiple unions and supports the finance department with audits.
- Tracks employee seniority and PTO, enters PTO and holiday pay into time keeping system, and creates, updates, and maintains annual PTO accrual spreadsheet and accrual allowances.
- Provides administration support to human resources function (e.g., record keeping, file maintenance, benefit system entry) and provides support to operations and finance departments as needed.
- Responds to employee and client inquiries regarding payroll and operations finance related matters via phone, email or in person.
- Provides clear, accurate, and timely information on payroll and operations finance procedures, and regulations.
- Affords support to operations and finance departments as needed.
- Trains selected employees for use of all systems required for payroll processing and reporting.
- Provides training support to employees and clients on payroll-related self-service tools and systems.
- Maintains detailed documentation of payroll processes, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Familiarity with mJobTime, MS Dynamics SL, and Payroll 4 Construction (P4C).
- Knowledge of payroll compliance.
Qualifications
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and mathematical skills required.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information required.
- Ability to gather, verify, and analyze information from multiple sources and strong interpersonal skills essential.
- Microsoft Excel experience including familiarity with pivot tables, V-lookups, and data formatting.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
