About the Role
The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations for one of the assigned Payrolls using the company's electronic payroll system, including processing new hires, separations, and any payroll updates; processing leave requests; and handling special projects for the Payroll Department.
Responsibilities
- Process new hires and input benefit enrollment data, salary increases, and separations
- Prepare paychecks and direct deposit transactions for employees
- Verify accuracy of Electronic Time Submission and paycheck calculation using UKG
- Process employee wage garnishments including Internal Revenue Service levies, Child Support Orders, and Chapter 13 deductions
- Manage paid and unpaid leaves of absence, including FMLA paperwork
- Create and process detailed payroll reports for management
- Analyze payroll processes and make recommendations to the Payroll Manager when needed
- Prepare and maintain payroll and employee files
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1 to 2 years of relevant payroll processing experience
- General knowledge of payroll procedures and IRS tax laws
- Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
