About the role
At Kirby Risk, our Employee Services team supports our people, processes, and business operations through accurate payroll administration, regulatory compliance, and exceptional employee support.
Responsibilities
- Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with federal and state requirements, and optimize payroll processes and reporting.
- Review, validate, and approve payroll transactions, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposit information.
- Process payroll entries, time records, and applicable adjustments, ensuring payroll is balanced and transmitted within established deadlines.
- Maintain required payroll and personnel records in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements, including employment eligibility documentation such as I-9 forms.
- Review payroll and employment-related documentation for alignment with company policies, applicable laws, and federal and state compliance standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requirements and apply related guidance to payroll processing and compliance activities.
- Cook up payroll and tax reporting activities to support accurate recording, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare, review, and analyze reports generated from the HRIS system to support payroll administration, audits, and business decision-making.
- Cook up coordination with Dayforce to monitor system performance, troubleshoot payroll-related issues, and support process improvements.
- Respond to internal and external requests for payroll or employment-related information, as appropriate and in accordance with confidentiality and compliance requirements.
- Represent Kirby Risk with professionalism in every customer and vendor interaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 3+ years of payroll and/or Human Resources experience with a medium to large, multi-state employer.
- 3+ years of experience using payroll software.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Prioritize handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, whether in person or over the phone.
- Strong payroll balancing and account reconciliation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, planning, multitasking, and follow-through skills.
- Excel proficiency required (VLOOKUPs and PivotTables).
- Strong computer aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., with overtime as business needs and payroll deadlines require.
