Payroll Specialist

About the role

Anita’s New Mexico Style Mexican Food is a family-owned restaurant group with 10 locations across Northern Virginia. Supported by our corporate office and central commissary in Chantilly, we serve thousands of guests every day. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our corporate team and support our multi-location restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time for all store and corporate employees
• Verify timecards, tip reports, and hours worked from POS and timekeeping systems
• Maintain and update employee payroll records, deductions, and benefits
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports and summaries to management
• Manage payroll adjustments, new hires, terminations, and PTO tracking
• Assist with audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries from staff and management
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and company payroll data

Requirements

• More than 5 years of experience in payroll, preferably in the restaurant industry or multi-location business
• Proficiency in payroll software(Toast, ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Excel (required)
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and reporting
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees
• Familiarity with benefits administration and timekeeping systems a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of restaurant tip reporting and labor compliance
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
