About the role
Haga Kommer, Ltd. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. We are a leading CPA firm with a strong focus on growth and excellence, serving clients across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time, including generating paystubs, paychecks, and direct deposits.
- Maintain and update client and employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and wage laws.
- Calculate and process payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
- File and remit federal and state payroll taxes, including monthly and quarterly filings.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax forms (940, 941, W-2, W-3) and state-specific reports.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and verify payroll data for accuracy.
- Respond to employee and client inquiries regarding payroll, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Audit support and provide documentation or reports as needed for verification or compliance purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure data consistency and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay current with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices.
- Utilize payroll software (ACS or other systems) and accounting tools to streamline processes and reporting.
- Assist in administrative responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum associate degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education/experience.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of payroll experience in a multi-client or fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Familiarity with wage and hour laws, including overtime, FLSA, and benefit deductions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and payroll/accounting software.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with ACS (Thomson Reuters) software preferred; experience with other payroll systems (ADP, QuickBooks, Paychex, etc.) a plus.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This position works a minimum of 30 hours per week but can consider those looking for 40 hours per week.
