Payroll Specialist

General Shale, the nation’s leading masonry materials manufacturer, seeks a Payroll Specialist for its corporate headquarters in Johnson City, TN. The Payroll Specialist will handle various payroll-related tasks for North American companies, including:

• Processing multi-state/province payrolls on time, efficiently, and accurately
• Adhering to tax laws and monitoring wage attachment/garnishment orders
• Maintaining payroll and employee records
• Responding to employee inquiries about payroll or HR issues
• Preparing various reports

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• A degree in Accounting or related field (preferred but not required)
• Experience with UKG (formerly Ultimate Software and Kronos)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Highly autonomous and self-motivated with good judgment
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
