Payroll Specialist

About the role
The Payroll Specialist will assist the payroll administrator in compiling and recording employee time and payroll data, including computing employees' time worked, overtime, and drive time pay. This position computes and posts wages and deductions, prepares paychecks, and supports HR-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with weekly employee payroll processing
- Verify all overtime hours for applicable employees
- Answer payroll-related issues and questions
- Communicate directly with employees to address paycheck inquiries and resolve errors
- Record payroll data using payroll software
- Audit and verify employee drive time
- Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor
- Maintain knowledge of applicable wage and hour laws
- Prepare payroll reports for department managers per request
- Support HR tasks as needed, such as updating employee banking records
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- High attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, with strong Excel skills for data entry, formulas, and report building
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Data entry experience
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- 1-2 years' experience processing payroll (a plus)
- Experience processing payroll in the construction industry (a plus)

Pay
$20+ per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
This is primarily an office-based position operating in a standard indoor office environment. Occasional travel between office locations may be required.
