Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently across multiple states while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience working with payroll systems, and the ability to manage payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Key ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple statesEnsure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductionsMaintain and update employee payroll records including earnings, taxes, and benefitsReview and audit timesheets to ensure accuracy and proper approvalsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, particularly for multi-state employeesProcess payroll adjustments including retro pay, corrections, and off-cycle paymentsRespond to employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductionsPrepare payroll reports and assist with reconciliations for the accounting teamCoordinate with HR and Accounting to ensure employee information and benefit deductions are accurateAssist with year-end payroll activities and payroll tax reconciliations Qualifications3-5+ years of payroll processing experienceExperience processing multi-state payroll preferredExperience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar platformsStrong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirementsProficiency in Microsoft Excel What We OfferContract-to-hire opportunity with competitive compensation between $28-$31/hr, dependent on experienceFull benefits available after the initial probationary periodA collaborative, professional environment with opportunities for growthExposure to broader accounting functions and business operations Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
