Provide input and support for all steps required to ensure “zero defect” of the weekly payroll cycle, with strengths in end-to-end payroll processing and growth opportunities in related areas. Communicate with team members, business partners, and employees to ensure accurate and timely payroll while maintaining quality customer service.
Responsibilities
- Input, review, and audit timekeeping and other payroll-related records.
- Utilize Kronos system functionality for entries, inputs, audits, reporting, and approvals.
- Process special or exception items including variable rates, tips, reversals, voids, deductions, and other activities with minimal oversight.
- Audit data accuracy for new hires, job changes, salary actions, terminations, and other payroll-related documents.
- Audit and communicate results to supervisors/managers regarding missing time punches, time-off requests, and time clock schedules.
- Support on-cycle, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls weekly, ensuring timeliness and accuracy for time file batches, historical/retro activities, termination payments, adjustments, and supplemental payments.
- Ensure payroll registers, reports, and variances are correct and approved by management before final calculation and submission for gross-to-net processing.
- Maintain updates and documents related to payroll audits, workflows, and procedures.
- Support OSV and Freshservice cases, resolving payroll-related tickets in a timely manner.
- Receive, review, and input garnishments and lien documents, complying with all federal and state laws for payments and required responses.
- Monitor payroll production errors and proactively update SOPs for review and approval by management.
- Maintain confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in HR, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
- 1+ years of payroll experience within a complex, high-volume, multi-state payroll system required.
- 1-2 years’ experience with Workday payroll or other HCM systems.
- 1-2 years’ experience with UKG-Kronos system.
- Experience in a retail environment preferred.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processes including data entry, pay calculations, garnishments, tax, benefits, multi-state taxation rules, gross-to-net manual calculation, final pay requirements, and wage and hour laws.
- Proven ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness of all payroll-related functions.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Workday payroll processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure.
- Ability to understand and track missing and/or required payroll components.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.
- Ability to understand, calculate, and explain complex calculations and figures.
