Payroll Specialist

About the role

Aurora is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Colorado Springs, CO. Aurora provides solutions and software supporting complex Space, National Security, and Cyber missions for federal, international, and commercial customers. Based in Colorado Springs, Aurora excels through diverse teams advancing innovative systems and operational software.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll for employees
• Accurately calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
• Maintain and update employee payroll records
• Verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with labor laws and tax regulations
• Manage benefits deductions (health insurance, retirement plans, etc.)
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and deductions
• Reconcile payroll accounts and generate reports for accounting
• Auxiliary with audits and year-end processes

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred in accounting, finance, or related field)
• 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role
• Knowledge of payroll software (e.g., Humanic, ADP, Paychex, or similar systems)
• Understanding of tax regulations and labor laws
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems

Qualifications

• Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Experience with HRIS systems
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. Range: $65,000 - $80,000
