About the Role
This role oversees payroll accounting, payroll tax compliance, general ledger reconciliations, and union contract compliance, while providing leadership, coaching, and daily support to the payroll team.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent payroll management experience
- 8+ years of multi-state payroll administration and payroll tax expertise, including compliance with federal, state, local, union, and prevailing wage requirements
- CPP certification required or willing to obtain within 1 year of employment
- Proven experience leading payroll teams and driving accuracy, efficiency, and best practices
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, accounting platforms, and timekeeping solutions such as Workday, UKG, ADP, and related technologies
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage deadlines, cross-functional projects, and confidential information
- Prior experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Oversee multi-state bi-weekly payroll operations for union, non-union, and prevailing wage employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
- Partner with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), and internal stakeholders to optimize payroll and HR services, processes, systems, and vendor relationships
- Develop, maintain, and audit payroll policies, procedures, and end-to-end processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and cost effectiveness
- Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team while providing guidance, training, and support to ensure operational excellence
- Manage payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, commissions, bonuses, and compliance documentation while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity
