We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce in Austin, Texas. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who can oversee end-to-end payroll processing, maintain compliance across jurisdictions, and bring strong expertise with high-volume payroll environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage complete payroll cycles for a workforce of more than 500 employees, ensuring pay is processed accurately and on schedule.
- Administer payroll activities across multiple states while applying current tax, wage, and regulatory requirements.
- Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues before final processing.
- Use ADP Workforce Now and related payroll systems to maintain employee records, process changes, and generate payroll outputs.
- Partner with HR, finance, and other internal teams to coordinate employee updates, deductions, benefits, and compensation changes.
- Prepare payroll reports, support audits, and maintain documentation that meets internal standards and compliance requirements.
- Monitor payroll practices and recommend process improvements that strengthen efficiency, controls, and service quality.
- Support payroll-related system updates or platform changes as needed while helping maintain continuity of payroll operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading full-cycle payroll processing in a high-volume environment.
- Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards.
- Experience managing payroll for organizations with more than 500 employees.
- Hands-on proficiency with ADP Vantage.
- Broad payroll expertise, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, and employee record maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and resolve payroll discrepancies effectively.
- Ability to manage deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work independently in a contract assignment.
