Payroll Manager
About the role
The Payroll Manager will lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery across the organization and its subsidiaries. They will provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of payroll professionals, monitor compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery across the organization and its subsidiaries
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of payroll professionals, fostering accountability and continuous growth
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, delivering responsive and high-quality support to employees and leadership
- Maintain and optimize payroll systems and tools to support business needs and scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, People & Culture, Benefits, and IT teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and system integration
Requirements
- A high school diploma
- FPC or CPP certification required
- 10+ years of payroll experience in a corporate or professional services environment, including experience leading payroll teams
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop team members while driving high performance
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize a dynamic workload and adapt to evolving business needs
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with Workday payroll required; exposure to UKG preferred
- Experience supporting or leading payroll system implementations, preferably within Workday
