Payroll Functional Analyst
About the role
System One is partnering with a manufacturing client seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst with strong Workday Payroll expertise to join their team in Tulsa, OK. This is a full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who understands payroll processes, Workday payroll configuration, General Ledger integrations, and reporting validation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Workday Payroll, including defining and maintaining payroll posting rules, validating payroll reports, and supporting payroll-related system functionality. This role will work closely with Payroll, Accounting, Finance, and HRIS teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support Workday Payroll functionality and configuration.
- Define, maintain, and validate payroll-to-General Ledger (GL) posting rules.
- Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to support payroll GL rollouts and reconciliation processes.
- Review, test, and validate payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze payroll data and identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with HRIS Specialists and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement payroll-related system enhancements.
- Support and troubleshoot payroll data integrations between Workday and external systems.
- Ensure data integrity across payroll, HR, benefits, and financial systems.
- Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, and implementation activities.
- Document processes, configurations, and system changes.
- Assist with payroll audits and compliance-related reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on Workday Payroll experience is required.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Workday payroll posting rules and payroll-to-GL processes.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting and General Ledger integrations.
- Experience supporting and validating data integrations into Workday from third-party systems.
- Proven ability to perform payroll report validation and reconciliation.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Payroll, HRIS, Accounting, and Finance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large datasets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday Payroll implementations, enhancements, or system upgrades.
- Knowledge of Workday reporting, calculated fields, and EIBs.
- Experience in payroll testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and documentation.
- Understanding of payroll tax and compliance requirements.
