Payroll Consultant

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Consultant to support complex payroll operations across a multi-state workforce. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong experience processing union payroll, managing compliance requirements, and handling high-volume payroll in a fast-paced environment. The consultant will work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and union regulations. This is a Contract position based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple states
• Administer and review union payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and voluntary withholdings
• Review and audit timekeeping records for accuracy prior to payroll processing
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
• Maintain employee payroll records and supporting documentation
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and accruals
• Support quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing
• Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews
• Partner with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related projects and process improvements
• Utilize payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or similar platforms

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll processing experience required
• Multi-state payroll experience required
• Union payroll experience required
• Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and wage/hour compliance
• Experience processing high-volume payroll accurately and efficiently
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, Paycom, or similar payroll systems
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• CPP certification is a plus

Pay

The pay range for this position is $78,750.00 - $90,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location,
