We are looking for a detail-oriented part-time (20 hours per week) Payroll Bookkeeper to support payroll and accounting operations for a team based in Dallas, Texas. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who can balance accurate payroll administration with day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish, along with the ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Administer recurring payroll cycles on a weekly, biweekly, or semimonthly basis while ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
  • Examine time records, attendance details, and employee updates to confirm payroll calculations and resolve inconsistencies before processing.
  • Oversee deductions, benefit withholdings, tax withholdings, and wage garnishments in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Keep payroll files current and organized, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
  • Record financial activity in the general ledger and support routine bookkeeping tasks to preserve accurate accounting records.
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including maintaining organized vendor and customer account information.
  • Complete reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and payroll-related balances to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Prepare journal entries and contribute to month-end close, reporting support, and audit-related documentation requests.
  • Communicate with employees in both English and Spanish regarding payroll questions, onboarding documents, and record updates while protecting confidential information.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience processing payroll from start to finish.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, including written and verbal communication.
  • Working knowledge of payroll platforms and accounting software, with QuickBooks experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when handling payroll and financial data.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain high-quality work in a busy environment.
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing and payroll tax reporting is strongly valued.
